A note from Write to Learn follows:Hello, Master Teacher!
I call you that because, in my experience, those teachers who belong to state and national organizations in their fields—like the Missouri Writing Project Network—are the crème de la crème, the true Master Teachers. If you don’t know me, I run the annual Write to Learn Conference for K-12 language arts teachers in Missouri. Unfortunately, with the pandemic this year, we weren’t able to have our usual in-person conference, so we’ve done something a little different—a series of multi-part Zoom workshops for teachers, led by some of the top language arts experts in the country. We will be wrapping up this series of workshops in February with our Authors’ Series. Unlike the other workshop series we’ve hosted this year, the Authors’ Series will consist of three one-hour workshops led by three different award-winning authors--Allan Wolf, John Claude Bemis, and Nikki Grimes—who will be sharing their best tips and techniques for teaching writing. All three of these authors have written for children’s, middle grades, and YA audiences, so no matter what grade you teach, you’ll get great, actionable ideas. You can learn more about these amazing authors on the Speakers page of the conference website, and you can see descriptions of their sessions on the Sessions page (scroll down toward the bottom of both of those pages to find the Authors’ Series speakers, as they are the last ones for the year). And here’s the cool part: as a reward for being an MWPN member (and for being a Master Teacher), I wanted to offer you a special, nearly half-price deal to hear these three amazing authors speak—only $79 instead of the normal full price of $149! The sessions are on Thursday evenings (Feb. 11, 18, and 25), so you don’t have to miss class to attend, and all sessions are recorded so you can watch the recording later if for some reason you have to miss one of the live calls. OK, let’s get to the nitty-gritty: to get your special price on the Authors’ Series, all you have to do is go to the Register page on the website, click the “Click to Register” button, and when you’re filling out your registration, on the payment page, you will see a place to enter a code for the special price. Enter this code: StudentWRITERS21. Your cost will immediately be reduced from the normal full price to just $79. I hope you will join us in February for this amazing opportunity to learn some of the “insider secrets” of three best-selling authors that you can then share with your own students. Thank you!
